Agios Nikolas- Crete (Greece):
This is one of my FAVOURITE Greek islands & one of the best places to go when visiting Europe. It’s a slice of paradise in the Mediterranean. The scenery, the culture and the atmosphere on this island is incredible.
There is no shortage of beautiful accommodation in Agios Nikolas:
For a 5 star luxury resort experience we highly, highly recommend: https://www.daioscovecrete.com
It is a very exclusive, secluded & modern resort. Each room has an incredible view of the cove & is very spacious. You can also get rooms with your own privates pool or spa on the balcony!! Which is awesome.
Lots of great restaurants on site for when you feel like staying in. Ocean restaurant is really nice for a fine dining experience.
The spa treatments and facilities in this resort are amazing! This resort also has a great infinity pool and a private beach, where you can do all kinds of water activities or lounge back under an umbrella and read a book.
Another beautiful 5 star resort to stay at is called Minos Beach. It is so beautiful and very chic. Also in a great location. Very close to the town centre, and this resort has plenty of gorgeous spots to relax under an umbrella, drink wine or go for a dip. https://www.booking.com/hotel/gr/mirabella.en-gb.html?aid=898224&app_hotel_id=190030&checkin=2020-08-20&checkout=2020-08-24&from_sn=ios&group_adults=2&group_children=0&label=Share-lr4xGu%401588223333&no_rooms=1&req_adults=2&req_children=0&room1=A%2CA%2C#_
There are some really awesome Airbnbs around Agios Nikolas! Most with ocean views. The Airbnb we stayed in is sadly no longer available. However it was 3 stories and the top floor was a roof top with couches to have wine and it had amazing views of the ocean. If it becomes available again I will add the link. It was called “Spacious, sea view, penthouse city apartment.”
If you have a tighter budget, our friend owns the Mirabella apartments. It is cheaper and right on the water. A very cool spot, with great vibes. You should book the Luxury studio with sea view, its newly renovated and nice and fresh! https://www.booking.com/hotel/gr/mirabella.en-gb.html?aid=898224&app_hotel_id=190030&checkin=2020-08-20&checkout=2020-08-24&from_sn=ios&group_adults=2&group_children=0&label=Share-lr4xGu%401588223333&no_rooms=1&req_adults=2&req_children=0&room1=A%2CA%2C#_
We always hire a car when we come to Crete. Its much easier to get around and do everything. We fly into Heraklion airport and then drive 40 minutes to Agios Nikolas.
Hire a boat: We hired ours from Minos Boats. It was the best day. We cruised around, went swimming in beautiful bays, went cliff diving, we snorkelled around & drank wine! The water is so beautiful, so crystal clear and it changes colours in the different spots and bays.
Have lunch at Delphini: The seafood is delicious, the views and atmosphere is beautiful. We sit outside, and some of our favourite things to order are the octopus, the whole fish and the seafood risotto. You also have a view of Spinalonga
Below Delphini restaurant there is a super pretty bay to take a dip & all around it there are some awesome view points. Great places for beautiful photos.
Across the road from Delphini there is the cutest boutique shop, with really cool Greek inspired things to buy. It’s called the eyes of plaka. Be sure to check it out.
Explore Agios Nikolas for beautiful bays to chill out and take a dip. All the bays and beaches are so nice, and the water is amazing.
Go to Minos Beach hotel for a wine, a sunbake and a dip
Basilico Ristorante: The food here is delicious. We have been here so many times and every time it was so good. Also right on the water so very pretty.
Shop the streets and boutiques in the town centre.
Thrakka: to experience and enjoy traditional Greek salad & gyros and eat where the locals go.
Gioma Meze: Great views, right at the top of the cliff that overlooks the entire Limni Voulismeni! The food is also really nice!
Blue lagoon: A cool spot right on the limni Voulismeni with gyros and greek salads.
If you are brave enough you can cliff dive into the Limni Voulismeni: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTD-Hh_jtC8
Melissa Patiserrie & Bakery: for warm fresh donuts
If you stay at Daios Cove: We spent 3 days straight here just enjoying everything the resort has to offer
We hope you enjoy Crete as much us we did!
